Software Company Relies On Blogger

Going steadily since 1999, Blogger is not only used by random prolific writers, it’s also relied on to this day by at least one for-profit company. Case in point: modern PC game developer, SCS Software.

I thought it’d be nice to showcase a business that leverages the simplicity and reliability of Blogger for its public blog. It’s not just old-school netizens with personal blogs that use ye ol’ blogspot. You can still run, at lest in part, a business here.

SCS Software is known for its long-running PC games, Euro and American Truck Simulator. I just recently started playing the latter and like it a lot. But it’s about to get even better.

Announced on its blog (powered by Blogger), SCS is developing a new way to play the game, using cars in addition to 18-wheelers. There will also be new goals or gameplay mechanics related to driving cars, like on a road-trip.

This announcement is very promising and exciting in itself. But again, where did I read this new information in 2025? On a simple blog hosted on Blogger, of all places.

Blogger still has a place in today’s web 2.0 (or 3.0) though it began way back before Y2K scared everyone into stocking up on canned beans. In fact, it started before Google bought Blogger and it predated Facebook. I think this is a testament to the fundamentals of the open-web and its HTML roots.

Long live Blogger!
